There are a range of job roles available in adult social care including direct care roles and supportive roles.
If you decide to undertake a role within social care you could be working in a residential home, out in the community or even in someone’s own home.
Depending on the role that you do, you could be providing support to a number of different people. You may be supporting a man in his 20’s who has a learning disability or a woman in her 90’s who would like support to continue to live in her own home.
You may decide that you would like to specialise in a particular profession such as a Social Worker or Occupational Therapist. You may like to work in a role that provides direct care such as a Care Worker or you may decide that you would like to work in one of the many supportive roles that enables social care organisations to function effectively such as roles within management. administration, catering or maintenance.
