Who should attend?
Connect 5 training aims to increase the confidence and skills of frontline staff to have effective conversations with the public or service users about mental health and wellbeing. The training equips people with the skills to help themselves and others to manage mental health problems. It enables individuals to increase their resilience and improve their mental wellbeing. The training is nationally accredited, based on cognitive behavioural therapy, and trains people to be able to provide mental wellbeing advice and short interventions.
Course aims and objectives:
Connect 5 is a training programme for people who want to help clients to improve their mental health and wellbeing. The aim is to increase the confidence and skills of frontline staff so that they can be most effective in having conversations about mental health and wellbeing, and so help people to manage mental health problems and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive changes.
Connect 5 is an incremental three-session/ day programme. Participants may progress through stages dependent on how much of their role involves working regularly with people experiencing poor mental wellbeing.
Course Content:
Session 2 (one day) is Brief Mental Wellbeing Interventions to help participants develop their understanding, skill and confidence to work with people on their troubling or difficult feelings. Participants will learn how to support greater insight into these feelings and how to help people take first steps to manage them and to make themselves feel better
